Question of the Week

WHAT IS ‘SAFE’ ABOUT A DRUG whose sole purpose is to starve to death a developing unborn baby?

Taking Our Message to the World Stage

WHEN THE UNITED NATIONS STAGED A CONFAB recently about “the global chronic disease crisis,” reports Doug Mainwaring for LifeSiteNews, US Secretary of Health & Human Services (HHS) Robert F. Kennedy “delivered a powerful message, … defended US national sovereignty and exposed the UN’s guileful attempt to manufacture consensus,” specifically blasting the World Health Organization (WHO).

He also informed the multinational gathering “that the US would reject a proposed UN declaration because it had overstepped its role,” writes Mr. Mainwaring.

Within the proposed language to which he dissented on our behalf, quoted by LifeSiteNews: “‘We cannot accept language that pushes destructive gender ideology. … Neither can we accept claims of a constitutional or international right to abortion.

“‘The WHO cannot claim credibility or leadership until it undergoes radical reform,’ said RFK Jr., who described the UN declaration as ‘political’ in nature,” reports Mr. Mainwaring.

“‘A sound global policy must respect families and cultures and communities,’” declared the Secretary. “‘It must be practical, cost effective and locally driven,’ explained Kennedy. ‘More specifically, we cannot accept language that pushes radical gender ideology. We believe in the biological reality of sex. Women deserve dignity, safety and women-only spaces,’ he argued,” writes Mr. Mainwaring.

“‘We cannot accept claims of a constitutional or international right to abortion. As Pres. Trump has said,’” said Secy. Kennedy, quoted by LifeSiteNews, “‘“global bureaucrats have absolutely no business attacking the sovereignty of nations that wish to protect innocent life.” …

“‘We also can’t cede authority to the World Health Organization,’ declared [Mr.] Kennedy. ‘The WHO’s failure during Covid cost the world valuable time and countless lives. Until the WHO undergoes meaningful reform, it cannot claim credibility or leadership.’”

RU ‘Safety’ Under Review

H.H.S. SECRETARY ROBERT F. KENNEDY HAS LAUNCHED a “safety review of the abortion drug mifepristone,” reports Emily Mangiaracina for LifeSiteNews, “that could lead to restrictions on the lethal pill. Kennedy shared earlier this year that Pres. Donald Trump requested he conduct a study of the pill’s safety for women. As Lila Rose of Live Action has noted, ‘A drug designed to starve preborn babies to death can never be considered “safe.”’” Amen!

The probe is being undertaken through the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), whose commissioner, Dr. Marty Makary, joined Secretary Kennedy in announcing the study via a Sept. 19 letter to 22 Republican attorneys general, notes Ms. Mangiaracina. The move implements a pledge made by Secretary Kennedy earlier this year, she reports, “when pressed by lawmakers.

“‘Sen. [Josh] Hawley [R-MO] asked [during that encounter] if [Mr.] Kennedy was aware of the Ethics & Public Policy’s recent study that showed nearly 11% of women in the US who take mifepristone suffer serious adverse events, a rate 22 times higher than what is reported on the drug label. ‘It’s alarming,’ [Sec’y] Kennedy replied, adding,” writes Ms. Mangiaracina, “that it ‘validates’ previous studies and ‘at the very least, the label should be changed.’”

The letter from the GOP attorneys general appears to have triggered the priority now being given the study. That letter noted that safety protocols concerning mifepristone were “‘removed by the Obama and Biden Administrations.’” Those dropped safety protocols included a requirement that the drugs be prescribed by a doctor, notes LifeSiteNews, “and that their adverse effects be reported. …

“In 2011, the drug was placed under a safety system known as REMS after serious adverse events – including multiple deaths – were reported. REMS allows the FDA to monitor these adverse events,” notes Ms. Mangiaracina. “But under the Obama FDA in 2016, requirements to report all abortion pill complications were removed. Going forward, only deaths were to be reported, significantly hampering safety data. In 2020, a new ‘no-test’ deregulation removed requirements for labs, testing and blood work to accurately date a pregnancy and rule out deadly ectopic pregnancies before dispensing abortion pills.

“By December 2021, the Biden FDA,” reports LifeSiteNews, “axed the requirement that the abortion pill be dispensed in person and allowed them to be permanently shipped by mail. …

“A 2020 open letter from a coalition of pro-life groups to then-FDA Commr. Stephen Hahn noted that the ‘abortion pill has resulted in over 4,000 reported adverse events since 2000, including 24 maternal deaths.’” And uncounted deaths of developing human babies.

Corrupting the Pharmacy Profession

CALIFORNIA GOV. GAVIN NEWSOM (D) HAS SIGNED a law, reports Calvin Freiburger for LifeSiteNews, “to allow abortion drugs to be mailed without identifying a prescribing doctor or pharmacy on the label.”

The purpose behind the abortionist mask, notes Mr. Freiburger, is “to shield facilitators [of baby killing] from prosecution by pro-life states,” such as Texas, which is suing abortionists from other states for abetting illegal abortions of tiny, developing Texans.

“Assembly Bill 260 ‘would authorize a pharmacist to dispense mifepristone or other drug used for (chemical) abortion,’” reports Mr. Freiburger, “‘without the name of the patient, the name of the prescriber or the name and address of the pharmacy, subject to specified requirements,’ according to its [official] legislative summary. Further,” he writes, “it ‘would prohibit the disclosure of the information to an individual or entity from another state.’”

The report quotes Mary Szoch, director of Family Research Council’s Center for Human Dignity: “‘The trend of ultra-liberal, culture-of-death states passing legislation to allow abortionists to anonymously prescribe mifepristone began after the states of Louisiana and Texas sought justice for a minor who was coerced into taking mifepristone and ended up in the emergency room and a Texas mother who also landed in the emergency room after hemorrhaging following the use of mifepristone.’ …

“Twelve states currently ban all or most abortions,” notes Mr. Freiburger. “But the unregulated, no-oversight distribution of abortion pills across state lines has become arguably the abortion lobby’s most effective tactic for preserving abortion ‘access’ and are particularly problematic in pro-life states to which they can be sent and taken in complete privacy without any sign law enforcement can act on.”

Shutting Off the Spigot

PLANNED PARENTHOOD OF WISCONSIN (PPWI) ANNOUNCED in late September, reports Calvin Freiburger for LifeSiteNews, “that it will suspend abortion operations in October as long as a federal block on taxpayer dollars to abortions remains in effect.

“WTMJ reports that the move comes in reaction to a federal appeals court upholding a portion,” writes Mr. Freiburger, “of Pres. Donald Trump’s ‘One Big Beautiful Bill Act’ that includes a one-year ban on federal tax dollars going through Medicaid to any entity that commits abortions for reasons other than rape, incest or supposed threats to the mother’s life.

“Roughly 60% of PPWI’s patients [sic] are covered by Medicaid,” reports LifeSiteNews. “Especially without Roe v. Wade to ensure abortion’s legality, the industry relies heavily on taxpayer funding to stay in operation. Last year, Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s most recent annual report revealed that its affiliates across the nation took in $699.3 million in government ‘health services’ reimbursements and grants, accounting for 39% of its total revenue during that period.

“At the same time, the abortion chain committed 392,715 abortions,” notes LifeSiteNews. “Yet its non-abortion procedures, such as pap tests and cancer screenings, continued to decline as percentages of its overall business.”

State of Maine ‘To the Rescue’

THE STATE OF MAINE IS REACTING to the one-year federal ban on US Medicaid dollars to abortionists – enacted as a provision in the President’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” – by allocating “$6 million in taxpayer funding,” writes Doug Mainwaring for LifeSiteNews, “to prop up Planned Parenthood of Northern New England and Maine Family Planning.”

The state’s allocation followed an August ruling by Judge Lance Walker of the US District Court for Maine, affirming, notes Mr. Mainwaring, “that the Trump Administration could lawfully deny federal Medicaid dollars to the top abortion business in Maine.”

Someone, Please Show this Video to Pres. Trump

Sept. 29, 2025, LifeSiteNews blog by Jonathon VanMaren

In a chilling new animated video, the Canadian anti-abortion group Choice42 depicts a conversation between an online abortion pill merchant and a woman who is pregnant with twins. It is titled “Death on Delivery,” and it exposes the growing online market for abortion pills, which can be purchased online and delivered anywhere in the world.

Death on Delivery uses voiceovers to highlight the process. The seller assures the buyer that the pills will work but notes that the baby – or in this case, twins – might be born alive. This, the seller says, is no problem. The babies will die shortly after birth. She suggests, as a solution to the problem of what to do with their corpses, that they might be buried in the back yard.

“The inspiration for this video is the growing problem of abortion pills being sold online,” Laura Klassen, the founder of Choice42, told LifeSiteNews. “Hundreds of accounts on social media advertise abortion pills for sale. It seems that many of the sellers are in third-world countries, and they are willing to ship the pills anywhere … even to areas where abortion is illegal.”

As the opening scene of the video indicates, the conversation between the seller and the pregnant purchaser is a real one. “Death on Delivery is based on a real conversation that took place on Messenger,” Klassen said. “A Choice42 contact posed as a potential buyer online and responded to a ‘Proof of Success’ photo on X, which shows the aborted twin babies on the bathroom floor, that the seller had posted to advertise their pills.”

That final scene in the video, that showed twin babies sobbing as they died on the bathroom floor? It actually happened. Klassen sent LifeSiteNews several of the genuine photos as evidence: These photos of aborted babies are sent by the buyers to the sellers as proof that their product works; the sellers, in turn, use these abortion victim photos to advertise their products to other potential buyers. The message is simple: Here is confirmation that after you take these pills, your baby will die. Maybe not right away, but soon after birth.

“As proof that their pills really do work, the seller sent screenshots of the conversation between them and the buyer in Texas,” Klassen explained. “The Choice42 contact was also posing as a pregnant woman and asking for pills to abort her late-term baby. The seller readily agreed and was eager to do business.”

Klassen is hoping that the video, which is both a mini-documentary as well as a piece of investigative journalism, will draw attention to this growing problem. … “I’m hoping that viewers realize that this is a deadly problem that is only growing,” she said. “Despite surgical abortion being outlawed in certain areas, women are still able to abort their babies by simply ordering pills online. In these cases, the mother is the abortionist herself: purchasing the pills, taking the pills, delivering the baby at home and dealing with the body afterward.”

This, of course, leads to horrific scenarios. “The pills were designed for early-term pregnancy termination; when they are used late term, many of the babies are born alive,” Klassen said. “The mothers are leaving them to die of exposure or even drowning them in the toilet or suffocating them with towels. All of this information is available in the abortion pill selling groups online, as buyers and sellers communicate about the process and proudly share pictures of their ‘results’ (their dead babies).”

This online digital black market in abortion pills is difficult to combat. “There is really no way to track these international abortion pill sellers, as they hide the pills that are being shipped by sewing them into clothing or other items,” Klassen told LifeSiteNews. “They routinely delete their accounts online and create new ones.” Thus, one of the most powerful ways to combat these horrors is to ensure that as many people as possible see them – and sharing “Death on Delivery” is a powerful way of doing just that.

Planned Parenthood on the Fiscal Precipice?

Sept. 29, 2025, LifeSiteNews report by Calvin Freiburger

Planned Parenthood may have to pay back nearly $2 billion in Medicaid payments it continued to bill for in Louisiana and Texas while its eligibility was being challenged.

National Review reported that oral arguments were held Thursday before the US Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit in US ex rel. Doe v. Planned Parenthood. The case stems from Louisiana and Texas (among other states) excluding Planned Parenthood from their state Medicaid programs after the 2015 exposure of the organization’s harvesting and sale of aborted baby organs and tissues. Planned Parenthood sued in 2016, but the 5th Circuit sided with the states in 2020.

However, the current suit, filed a year later, contends that Planned Parenthood continued to file Medicaid claims in Louisiana or Texas from 2016 to 2020 while its eligibility was in dispute. The false claims suit seeks to recover money from the abortion giant that would total $1.8 billion.

“This baseless case has only one goal: to shut down Planned Parenthood and deny patients access to sexual and reproductive health care,” Planned Parenthood Federation of America lawyer Susan Manning said, according to a Fox News report. “Planned Parenthood health centers are nonprofits that provide essential, high-quality health care to more than 2 million people nationwide every year.”

The “stakes couldn’t be higher” for the abortion giant, March for Life president Jennie Bradley Lichter said. “If that ($1.8 billion) obligation stands, it will strike a serious – even existential – blow to Planned Parenthood’s national operations and potentially change the abortion landscape in this country forever.”

Especially without Roe v. Wade to ensure abortion’s legality, the industry relies heavily on taxpayer funding to stay in operation. Last year, Planned Parenthood’s most recent annual report revealed that its affiliates across the nation took in $699.3 million in government “health services” reimbursements and grants, accounting for 39% of its total revenue during that period. At the same time, the abortion chain committed 392,715 abortions – yet its legitimate health services, such as pap tests and cancer screenings, continued to decline as percentages of its overall business.

Within weeks of returning to office, Pres. Donald Trump began enforcing the Hyde Amendment (which forbids most federal funds from directly supporting elective abortions), reinstated the Mexico City Policy (which forbids non-governmental organizations from using taxpayer dollars for elective abortions abroad), and cut millions in pro-abortion subsidies by freezing US Agency for International Development (USAID) spending.

In March, the administration froze Title X “family planning” grants to nonprofits it said violated its executive orders on immigration and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, including Planned Parenthood affiliates in nine states.

This summer, Trump signed his so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” (BBB) that includes a one-year ban on federal tax dollars going through Medicaid to any entity that provides abortions for reasons other than rape, incest or supposed threats to the mother’s life. … Other Republicans have proposed stand-alone measures to fully cut off Planned Parenthood’s government funding: the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion & Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act [S-186 & HR-7], which permanently bans federal funds from being used for abortion, and the Defund Planned Parenthood Act [S-203 & HR-271], which disqualifies Planned Parenthood and its affiliates specifically. But they would require 60 votes to make it through the Senate.

Wisdom from the Great Communicator

EXCERPT #23 from Abortion & the Conscience of the Nation, 1983 treatise by then-President Ronald Reagan, published in Human Life Review, then as a hardcover book from Thomas Nelson Publishers

We must all educate ourselves to the reality of the horrors taking place. Doctors today know that unborn children can feel a touch within the womb and that they respond to pain. But how many Americans are aware that abortion techniques are allowed today, in all fifty states [at the time of his writing], that burn the skin of a baby with a salt solution, in an agonizing death that can last for hours?

Life Advocacy Briefing editor’s note: We have left out, here, three paragraphs from President Reagan’s treatise, as that content is particularly time sensitive, relating his support for specific legislative proposals in Congress at the time.
